Calling All Gardening Photography Enthusiasts!

Do you have a green thumb and a talent for capturing the beauty of your garden? The Edmonton Horticultural Society invites you to submit your best garden photos for a chance to be featured in our 2026 Gardening Calendar! Whether it’s a beautiful flower bed, a bountiful harvest, or a peaceful garden scene, we want to see the moments of your outdoor space thriving in all seasons. This is your opportunity to share your love of gardening with the world and inspire others with your stunning photos. Get ready to showcase your garden and make it a part of our first Gardening Calendar!

Theme: The theme for this year’s competition is “Seasons in Bloom.” We’re looking for stunning images that capture the essence of gardens through the seasons, from vibrant spring blossoms to the golden hues of autumn.

Deadline: October 1, 2025

Submission Guidelines

Image quality: Photos submitted must be at a high enough resolution for high quality printing. The recommended resolution is approximately 2700 x 3600px (for 300DPI). We will be unable to consider any low quality images.

Format: The accepted file types are JPEG and PNG.

Number of submissions: Each person may submit up to three (3) images. Only one image per person will be selected.

Landscape orientation: Photos must be taken in landscape orientation.

Location: Images must be from Edmonton and the surrounding area.

Ownership: Please ensure all photos submitted are your own work.

Those selected will receive full credit for their photo in the calendar and will receive one free calendar.

How To Submit Your Photo

Who Can Enter: The competition is open to all EHS members (at the time of submission), whether you’re an amateur shutterbug or a seasoned photographer. Entries are welcome from gardeners of all experience levels.

Please email your submissions to info@edmontonhort.com. Please include a brief description of the image—tell us about the garden or moment captured, and the location it was taken.

A panel of gardening and photography experts will select 12 winning photos, one for each month of the calendar. Winners will receive:

  • A feature in the calendar with full credit.
  • A free 2026 calendar.
  • A gardening gift set.

People’s Choice Award: In addition to the judged winners, all shortlisted photos will be showcased on our website for public voting. The image with the most votes will receive the “People’s Choice Award” and a special prize.

Tips for Success:

  • Use natural lighting to highlight the colors and textures of your garden.
  • Focus on unique compositions that tell a story.
  • Experiment with different times of day for diverse lighting effects.
  • Get creative! We are looking for a diverse range of photos. We’d also love to see any beautiful indoor blooms.
