The Vice President of the Edmonton Horticultural Society plays a vital supporting role in the organization’s leadership. This position assists the President in overseeing society operations, ensuring that initiatives align with the organization’s mission, and stepping in as needed to provide continuity in leadership. The Vice President works closely with the board, committees, and members to promote horticultural education, conservation, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support for the President:
    • Assists in executing strategic goals and policies.
    • Steps in for the President when necessary, presiding over meetings and representing the society.
    • Provides input and guidance on key initiatives and challenges.
  • Operational Assistance:
    • Works with committees and board members to facilitate smooth operations.
    • Assists in budget oversight, fundraising, and membership engagement.
    • Helps coordinate responsibilities and delegate tasks as needed.
  • Community Engagement & Outreach:
    • Builds relationships with external organizations, partners, and stakeholders.
    • Supports public relations efforts and promotes society initiatives.
    • Encourages volunteer participation and recognizes member contributions.
  • Event Planning & Program Development:
    • Collaborates on organizing educational programs, garden tours, and fundraising events.
    • Leads specific initiatives as assigned by the President or board.
    • Ensures events align with the society’s mission and benefit the community.
