Volunteer with the Speaker Series

The Speaker Series Program generally begins work in the summer or fall of one year to fill a roster of speakers for the following year.

The Speaker Series Program Lead

This can be one person or a team. It’s a fun job for members who enjoy meeting and chatting with the experts. Year-round. Recruitment of new speakers begins in summer of the year prior.

Duties include:

  • Arrange the speakers for nine monthly meetings
  • Ensure that speakers reflect the interests of the membership
  • Collect a photo, bio, title and session description for each speaker and provide it well in advance to the Newsletter, ENews and website
  • Advertise speaker evenings
  • Arrange transportation and accommodation for out-of-town speakers
  • Inform Venue Manager of audio-visual needs for each meeting
  • Make sure someone is on hand to welcome the speaker and assist them with set-up
  • Provide the Treasurer with information on honoraria or fees for each speaker before each meeting
  • Provide a thank you card/gift for each speaker

Other Ways to Help

  • Be a regular part of the team, helping contact speakers, and be on hand at meetings to greet speakers.
  • Even if you can’t commit to a regular position, we always need suggestions for interesting speakers.
