Celebrating lovely front gardens in Edmonton

Watch for a New Yellow Sign Around Town! Our brand new Front Yards in Bloom sign will be adorning nominated yards this year. The familiar yellow is still there but a new attractive design, integrates the various components of Front Yards in Bloom and highlights our partners and sponsors. Watch for it and be sure to nominate your favourite front yards.

Nominate a friend’s or neighbour’s front yard this year!

The Edmonton Horticultural Society encourages beautiful neighbourhoods. We believe that with just a little tending, every front yard can contribute to our city’s landscape.

Front Yards in Bloom is an annual program to

• Promote beautiful front yards that improve the image of the community
• Recognize homeowners’ efforts at curb appeal
• Select top yards as models for others
• Encourage community involvement
• Enhance Edmonton’s participation in the National Communities in Bloom competition

Nominations

Anyone can nominate a local yard. We encourage friends, relatives, neighbours or passers-by to nominate attractive yards in any neighbourhood. Every nomination receives a sign and a certificate.

Nomination deadline: June 30^th, 2013.

To nominate a yard:

• Visit frontyardsinbloom.ca and fill out the online form

Please provide the street address and the name of the community with your nomination.

Judging

Volunteers visit each yard after the nomination deadline. Volunteers deliver a yard sign and certificate. They also select top yards for special recognition.

Consider being a judge. Invite a friend to get involved, too. Judging yards is a great way to see beautiful gardens. It is easy and fun!

Recognition

Awards are presented for Naturescape (for schools), Tidiness (litter and graffiti programs), Urban forest (trees), Community Garden, Front Yards in Bloom (Top Six yards, Awards of Merit, Edible Front Yard, Natural Front Yard).

The general public is welcome to attend. Join us to celebrate beautiful spaces in Edmonton, ranging from schoolyard naturescapes to flourishing private yards.
